Through a grant from the Spencer Community School Foundation, SHS students attended the Young Women in Business Conference. With an early morning start, students loaded the bus and headed to Ames, Iowa, where the conference was held.
The morning was filled with break-out sessions. A favorite among the students included a session on building a personal brand which included discussions about social media, GPA and class rank, and making good choices. Another session the students enjoyed focused on computer coding and motivating more women to enter the male dominant field.
After lunch, the students heard from Keynote Speaker, Sara Kurovski, Mayor of Pleasant Hill. She provided a very inspiring message centered around going after your dream. She also urged the young women to "Sit at the Table" even if it is a table of men. Following the keynote speaker, students attended one more session provided by the faculty of ISU prior to making the trek back to Spencer.
