Upon hearing about the agriculture programming in Spencer Schools, Farm Credit Services of America decided to provide financial support, through their community involvement fund, to purchase additional ag-based curriculum. Representatives from Farm Credit Services were on hand to present a donation in the amount of $3,500.00 to SHS Agriculture Instructor, Jason Holt, and a few of his students, for the purchase of the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) AG Science-Animal course.
To obtain and implement the curriculum, Holt will be attending a required institute to ensure proper training. The curriculum offers well-designed and planned learning experiences that provide hands-on activities, projects and problems. The AG Science-Animal course will be the third offered through SHS, and Holt plans to add Natural Resources/Ecology next year.
Holt has written grants and reached out to various regional entities to garner support for the additional curriculum, and he expressed his gratitude to Farm Credit Services for their support by saying, “Spencer FFA is grateful for all the support from Farm Credit Services. It is always tremendous when the agriculture community can assist the local agriculture education program. Through their contribution, the Spencer agriculture department will provide a more fluid and rigorous curriculum.”
